The DS-U2-GF satellite was a Soviet solar research satellite launched as part of the Dnepropetrovsk Sputnik program.
The DS-U2-GF satellite was a small optical observatory with instrumentation for simultaneous recording of solar, stellar, nebula, and Earth upper atmosphere radiation. Instrumentation recordings enabled tracing radiation bursts and decays due to active processes in outer sheaths of the Sun (solar flares). It performed following experiments:
- study shortwave radiation of the sun and the upper layers of the atmosphere in several spectral portions in the region of 1 - 1500 nm;
- study solar spectrum of radiation in the region of 30 - 300 nm;
- study shortwave radiation stars in several spectral portions in the region of 40 - 1500 nm;
- Check flow emission radiation synthetic belts, monitoring of radioactive contamination of the upper atmosphere and the level of radioactivity of the outer surface of the spacecraft body;
- investigation of the influence of various factors space environment (meteorites, cosmic dust, fluxes of charged particles) by a coefficient of specular and diffuse reflection mirrors astronomical instrument.

- SGK-58 magnetometer
The only satellite of this type satellite, Kosmos 262 was launched on 26 December 1968 on a Kosmos-2 booster from Kapustin Yar. It operated until 3 May 1969 and decayed from orbit 18 July 1969.
